You put on a smile to get through the day, but no one really knows how you are feeling. You don’t even tell your closest friends or family about the depression that has taken over because you don’t want to bring them down. You might be avoiding activities that you used to enjoy, staying in bed as long as possible, and dread having to leave your house. Thoughts that you are worthless, useless, and that nobody really likes you swirl in your head constantly. You may have even thought about ending it all to stop being a burden on others. What you aren’t able to comprehend, is that you are NOT a burden. People DO enjoy being around you. You DO have worth and value that you bring to your family, friends, and job. You are too valuable to let this go on any longer. Together we will work to identify the source of your negative thoughts and begin to push back against them. We will develop skills that you can use at home to continue to challenge the negative thoughts.
